When it comes to glass product decoration, manufacturers have been struggling with minimal options for years. The first method of decorating glass products was using high fire decals that needed to be baked on at temperatures around 1000°F for nearly thirty minutes. The next method, which several manufacturers still employ, is using low fire decals that need to be baked on at temperatures around 300-400° for about 20 minutes.

Digital print technology has finally made it to the glass decoration industry, which had previously been dominated by high fire and low fire decals.
Manufacturers, product decorators, and ad specialty companies can let out a sigh of relief. Digital print technology has finally made it to the glass decoration industry, which had previously been dominated by high fire and low fire decals. These decals, while aesthetically appealing, needed to be baked at temperatures as high as 1000°F for upwards of 30 minutes. These requirements greatly slowed production and, as they say, time is money.
One of the most popular methods for decorating plastics, metals, and many other substrates, digital heat transfers are the only digital solution for decorating glass. This is beneficial for several reasons. For starters, digital transfers are printed at 1200 dpi, 266 lines per inch, and are capable of hitting over 10,000,000 colors for truly photo quality images. However, this is just the beginning.
Since 2001, CDigital has been an innovator in developing new systems and processes for using digital print technology to produce transfers for the product decoration industry. Our print technology is by far the most cost effective full color print solution in the product decoration industry today.
For each application, the process is the same. Customer artwork is printed on the underside of a polyester film and coated with an adhesive. The film is then slit into various widths, wound on cardboard cores, and shipped to the customer. The customer uses conventional hot stamp equipment to transfer the image from the film to its products.
