How Digital Heat Transfers Are Produced

CMYK Printing

CMYK is simply an acronym used to describe the four-color printing process involving Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and black, which is the Keyline color.

CDigital specializes in digital heat transfers that can create affordable promotional products with a wide variety of materials. By utilizing digital heat transfer technology, product decoration is easier, more versatile and cost-effective than ever. Digital heat transfers make for an affordable, high quality and durable promotional product – with an incredibly fast turnaround! Your photo or company logo can be transferred beautifully to plastics, ceramics, vinyl, glass and many other materials. Wondering how the process actually works? Let us tell you.

Producing Your Transfer Order

First, you will digitally send us a copy of your desired design. Together, we can tweak it for any minor changes. Once we have received and finalized your design, we will send it to our high speed digital five-color press. A dry toner (no mess!) image is printed on the underside of a polyester film. From there, our custom finishing equipment coats the film with an adhesive formulated to adhere to the specific material of your product. Next, we trim the film to your specific decoration or hot stamp equipment needs, wound on cores and ship it directly to your facility – often the day after you place your order!

Transfer Application

When your shipment is received, the printed roll of digital heat transfers is loaded onto a heat transfer machine that uses heat and pressure to take the image off of our film and apply it to your product. CDigital film will run on most conventional hot stamp equipment with little to no modification. Don’t have a machine manufacturer in mind for your digital heat transfer? We’d be happy to recommend trusted machine manufacturers to you and work with them to ensure that your digital heat transfer process goes smoothly.

Final Touches

Almost immediately after the digital heat transfer application, your decorated products are dry and ready to be packaged. However, if your products are glass or ceramic, they will require a post-bake sitting period after application. Your machine operator then timely packs your product for shipment or utilizes a hands-free automated packing system. Are you a visual learner? Have no fear!
